ALLAH IS NOT GHAIB (UNSEEN)
We have always assumed that God is ghaib (unseen) because we cannot perceive Him through our senses. The status of being “ghaib” (unseen) for an entity implies ignorance about anything that exists or happens in a particular time and place. For example, if we are ghaib (unseen) from the classroom, it means we do not see or know what is happening in the classroom when we are not there. Clearly, this cannot be applied to God, who is All-Seeing, All-Hearing, and All-Knowing about everything that exists and occurs anywhere and anytime. From this, two questions arise: 1. Do we truly understand the meaning of the word "ghaib / unseen" ? 2. Is God truly ghaib / unseen ? Literal meaning of "ghaib" refers to unseen. It is the opposite of "syahid," which means witnessing.
